Knock

I don't think Autumn fully understands the concept of knocking quite yet... she's up in her crib knocking on the crib slat saying "knock, who's there"...

Strawberry Acres

Today we went to Strawberry Acres since it was a gorgeous fall day. Autumn had her first pony ride, played with gourds and pumpkins, saw all kinds of fun barnyard animals, and went for a ride in a little wagon, but her favorite thing - the rock gravel!

All words are fair game!

I've given up on trying to keep track of Autumn's new words since basically she can say anything we say to her now (including "oh, shoot" which Mama says sometimes!). She's still learning to make sentences and strings a few words together at a time... "go night in bed", "cookies yummy", "want pink car"... she is pretty good at letting us know what she wants, and what she doesn't - like "no bed!" or "all done" before she even steps foot in the bathtub!

An answer for everything...

Autumn was in our bedroom and started to grab the candle holders from the candle screen we have in there so I told her "no touch!". She kept her hand there and looked at me and said "My hand stuck". Nice try!

Mama is wrong... again!

We called Aunt Jess to make sure Biddy and Grammy made it to Nashua safely. While on the phone, Biddy told us that Abbi calls dogs "bark, bark ,barks" (Autumn used to call them oof-oofs now they are that or just dogs). Later that evening I was telling Jim that "Abbi calls dogs bark, bark, barks". Autumn chimed in and corrected me "No, Biddy say "bark, bark, barks"... technically, she was right!

So polite!

Autumn is very good about saying "please" when she wants something - sometimes it's even "pretty please"! Today I handed her something and she said "thank you, Mama" - so sweet!!!

Morning...

Though I hate tearing myself from my bed in the morning, it's one of my favorite times since Autumn's "pleas" are always interesting. Every morning when she wakes she says something different that makes me laugh. This morning it was "I stinkies", "I stuck", "I want hug", and "I want cake". I couldn't help but laugh and go get her. She ended up settling for a hug, cheerios, milk, and a banana.

Bigger sentences

Autumn is really starting to make sentences. Tonight she said "Mama, I dance with bear" (her bear is her dancing buddy!).

Duh, Mama

Autumn was sitting in a chair (she discovered how to get up on kitchen chairs this week) and saw her "chews" (cheerios) on the carpet. I said, "Yes, honey, your chews are on the floor", to which she replied "I know. I see."

New Words for this Week

-bed
-share
-happy
-tiger
-I know
-chair

Do what I say, not as I do

It was apparent today that Autumn understands the lessons I'm trying to teach her - she just chooses not to do as I ask. Case in point: I was eating gold fish crackers when she said "Mama, share!". So she knows what "share" means when it benefits her!
