Autumn went trick-or-treating, or as Autumn said "Treat"!, to Biddy & Grammy's, Pop & Gramma's, Uncle Steve and Aunt Lori's, and Nana & Pop's - Dada was a pumpkin farmer who picked the cutest pumpkin in the patch! The other pumpkin was home with Mama.

Meeting her brother...
Autumn wasn't really all that interested in her new brother - she wanted to eat her pretzels. She did say he was "nice"...

Introducing Evan James!
Well what a crazy time with this child... my water broke at 4:45am but I didn't know it right away... I was going to the bathroom and heard a "pop" but nothing really happened so I just thought that it was my hip cracking as I got off the toilet (sorry if TMI!). I took a towel and sat on the bed and prayed that if it was my water breaking, that I'd know.. a minute later there was a "gush". I called my parents at 5am and told them to come down to watch Autumn. Called the OB at 5:05 and got a call back from him at 5:15. I told him my water broke but no contractions yet but I wanted to go to the hospital so I had time to get my epidural. I called my friend Jenn who was going to be my doula and told her we were heading to the hospital but no contractions yet. At 5:25 I had a contraction and wanted to leave. No parents yet, so I called them to see where they were - my dad must not have heard what I said. They got here at 5:30 and we were packing the car and I decided I should time the contractions. Jim gave me his iPod and I hit timer and then hit it again when the next one came but it was only like 2 minutes later so I thought I had done something wrong. Contractions started to get more intense on the way to the hospital. We carefully went through a few red lights. Got there and things were getting bad... one contraction right after another. We had to wait for about 5 minutes to be taken upstairs. I kept asking where they were and asking that they call anesthesia to be there when I got there. Well that didn't happen. I got to my room and they started my IV and I kept asking when my epidural was coming - I was 7cm which I knew was nearing the end of my window. A resident came and checked me and then left. The contractions were now out of control. I hated being stuck on the bed unable to move when they came - I wanted to be on my hands and knees to be more comfortable but couldn't get there because of being hooked upto the IV and the fetal monitors. At one point his the heart rate started to drop and they put oxygen on me - I suspect I was having a contraction and not breathing since I tend to hold my breath when I'm in pain. With the oxygen (and me breathing again!) things were OK again. I kept asking the nurses to help me and get me an epidural then I felt this overwhelming need to push. I did and they called the resident in and she said you can have this baby long before you ever see an epidural. I said "how long" and with that I had to push and he came out! Good thing there are residents since neither my doctor nor my friend Jenn, who's a doula, made it there yet! I got to the hospital at 6:00am and he was born at 6:34. I don't remember them finger printing me and my signature on the consent forms was a squiggly line. What a story to tell Evan! He was 8lbs 3 oz and 21 1/2 inches long!

Toes Please...
Dada got Autumn out of bed this morning and forgot to take her socks off right away (she only wears socks to keep her feet warm at night, otherwise she's barefoot for better traction). As she came down the steps she asked Dada for "toes please" to indicate taking her socks off. So cute!

Autumn's 2nd Birthday Party
We celebrated Autumn's 2nd Birthday a few weeks early in case Baby #2 decides to come before his/her due date. We had a very small party at the Peachtree Park... it was a perfect day and Autumn had a great time opening presents, swinging, eating cake, and running around. Her birthday theme was "purple & green" since those 2 colors are her favorites and all she can talk about these days! What nobody caught a photo of was Autumn ripping a clump of my hair out when she was frustrated that we had to sing to her before she got her cake!
