Wanted: Interior Decorator

I asked Autumn how she'd like to decorate her room. She said "pictures". I asked her what kind of pictures. She said "of snakes". hmmm... I don't think I like that theme!

Fruit!

I asked Autumn what kind of fruit she wanted and she said those things that look like cheerios... ah, fruit loops. At least they are organic and flavored with fruit, but still, not quite what I meant - lol.

Mr. Squirrel

There's a squirrel on the deck eating from our bird feeder.
Autumn: He's so cute. Mr. Squirrel, come inside and play with me. Mr. Squirrel, Mr. Squirrel. He no hear me!
Me: Honey, Squirrels don't understand and he can't come in the house since he lives outside and doesn't know how to be good in a house. He doesn't know the rules like "no eating toys".
Autumn: Mr. Squirrel, you no eat my toys. OK, I told him the rules.

Whitehall Fall Festival Parade

Autumn and Evan loved the parade. They both got caught glow necklaces and we picked up lots of candy. Autumn learned to scream "Candy, Please!!!". Jim and I were most excited to catch a Chick-Fil-A Sandwich! Autumn loved the marching bands and the children on the floats. What a wonderful night!

18lbs and counting

I weighed Evan and he's finally up to 18lbs - one more pound in the next month and he'll actually be on the growth curve. My little man!

Milk Mess

Evan was very proud of the mess he made...

Dorney Park

We had a wonderful time celebrating our anniversary at Dorney Park! Autumn loved Camp Snoopy. She rode all the rides (even the ones that Mommy was too scared to go on!). Bubby rode his first ride- the carousel, followed by two different trains, and the ferris wheel (which Mommy was scared on!).

The Clapper!

Bubby discovered "clapping" today... now he claps on command - too cute! He also likes to play the bongo drums!

Monday, September 13, 2010

He's standing!

Evan pulled himself up on his books today and later in his pack 'n play. He's getting ready to walk!

Sunday, September 12, 2010

He's up!

Evan pulled himself up for the first time today - he was in the pack 'n play and got himself up! Good job, Bubby! It must have been the toasted cheese sandwich and jelly toast he had for the first time that gave him the extra strength!

We get a "kick" out of Autumn!

Autumn was listening to her ABCs Bible Verses CD and A is her favorite - "Keep me as the apple of your eye". We're listening to it on repeat when she says "Mommy, I don't know how to do it - I don't know how to kick".

Dinosaur Train!

Autumn loves "Dinosaur Train" on PBS so she was very excited to get to ride the train up at Bear Rock Junction and pretend it was the Dinosaur Train - there was even the "time tunnel". The conductor stopped at the side of the pond so we could look for bullfrogs (who were "sleeping in the weeds") and fish. And to complete the night she enjoyed "green ice cream" (mint chocolate-chip). Autumn and I shared a double scoop so I put one scoop into each of the 2 cups. Once hers was getting low she decided that she wanted me to "share" the mine (I couldn't eat it as fast since I was helping her with hers). Smart girl.

Melt my heart!

Today we were playing and something was "pretty" and Autumn said "Look, Momma, it's pretty, just like you".

9 Months Old!

I think Bubby is wondering why we are celebrating his 3/4 "birthday" but Autumn is getting cake and he isn't! He's SO big (but not really, he's a peanut!).

Happy 9 Month Birthday, Bubby!

We celebrated Evan's 9 month "birthday"... Autumn likes these quarterly birthdays since there is cake!

Take me out to the ballgame...

We went to see the Iron Pigs again tonight. It was SO humid but after the breeze started it was beautiful. Autumn loved playing in their playground but was "scared" of Ferrous, though she liked seeing him from afar. We had ice cream (thanks, Pop) and hot pretzels, and saw one of the top 20 contestants from American Idol, fireworks, and even a few minutes of the game. Evan really likes fireworks - his little legs keep going, he gets so excited!

Another Milestone

Evan's been "sitting" for a while but was wobbly and could only do it for a short period of time. Last week he started to sit unsupported (for a few minutes at a time with his back nice and straight). He's been almost at the point of getting himself sitting from a crawl and finally did it today. He was crawling, sat up, grabbed a toy and played with it for a few minutes before crawling away again! He's becoming very fast and mobile, even though he does a belly crawl (I call it the sea turtle crawl).

Happy 5th of July

We had our "5th of July" picnic at the Harpers followed by an evening at the Iron Pigs Game. 97 degrees at 7pm but we were still cool!

1-2-3

What a weekend we've had. So much fun and a few firsts... Evan went swimming for the first time and Autumn counted from one to ten all on her own for the first time! She was in the back seat of the car counting the flags in the cemetery we were passing and she counted all by herself from one to ten with no problem. Hooray!! All those times of counting the steps as we go up them has finally paid off!

Another Bible "Story"

We were reading the Beginners Bible with Autumn tonight and she said that the shepherd was a "little bo peep man".

Happy "Stupendous" Day

Autumn learned the word "stupendous" from one of the PBS shows she watches so today when I asked her to say "Happy Independence Day" it came out "Happy Stupendous Day". She followed it up with "that's awesome" since I told her "stupendous" means "awesome" (her two favorite questions are "what's that mean" and "what's it's name").

We did have an awesome day! We went swimming (Evan's first time and Autumn's first time for this year), Autumn and Evan took their first bath together (and neither screamed!), had a nice time at the Coaldale family picnic (where we played with "Mister Puppy", enjoyed the sprinkler, and learned how to use licorice so become a walrus), and saw the fireworks at Dorney Park. Stupendous it was!

Complaints

I've gotten complaints since I have not been updating the blog. The reason is a mixed blessing - Evan is nursing better so I don't have to pump, but that means less time on the computer (I used to update the blog while I pumped). It's been hard to fit in blogging with a busy 2 year old and a now mobile 8 month old (who doesn't go to bed until after midnight and then I'm too spent to blog)... but I'll try to be a little better!

Fun in the Fountain

We went to the Promonade Shops with the Jess, Scott, Abbi, and Biddy and played in the fountains... a lot of fun! Then we thought we brought the wrong child home since Autumn actually took a bath without any screaming and didn't want to get out. That has NEVER happened!

Autumn's New House

Our friends gave us their playhouse. Autumn loved it and even let everybody come in (after a long period of making them stand in the grass). At one point it felt like a clown car - how many adults can we fit in the little house? Evan thought it was funny.

We postponed the celebration until Biddy & Grammy were back in town. Baby Owen even celebrated with us!

Father's Day 2010

No, Honey...

Evan started to chatter more this weekend and today Autumn was listening to him and said "Mama, what's that mean?". I told her "I'm not sure - I was hoping you could tell me since you and Evan speak almost the same language". She looked at me and asked Spanish?". I think she's seen too many episodes of Dora!

Saturday, June 19, 2010

Dada!

Evan is so smart - he learned "mama" right before mother's day and yesterday stated with "dada" for father's day!

Jen's Birthday

Pop watched Autumn while Jim, Evan, and I went to Shady Maple for my birthday. Lunch was yummy. We missed Autumn but we had a nice day out. Best part was when I was nursing Evan in the parking lot and Jim had gone into Best Buy (can't pass a best Buy without going in). It had started to get stuffy in the car so I opened the door to let some air in and the car alarm went off. People were looking and there was nothing I could do since Jim had the keys with him and that's the only way to turn it off. I don't think the police would have suspected an 8 month old and a nursing mom but that could have been an even more interesting birthday!

Autumn drew me a beautiful birthday picture... Jim labeled the items in the photo as she drew them and told him what they were (it's a little abstract yet)... Mommy, Daddy, Bien, Grammy, Biddy, Present, Mickey Mouse Balloon, Cake, Big Candle... and a Potty????? I have to put that one in her scrapbook!

Walking in Emmaus

We decided to walk around Emmaus since it was such a beautiful Day. We got hot dogs at Traubs and Autumn had her first sip of soda (Cherry Pepsi) and said "mmm, it's good". We walked up to Emmaus Bakery. When she went in she yelled "cake, please" and then when the woman behind the counter asked if she could help us Autumn yelled "yes" - she knew what she wanted - a giant cupcake with tons of icing and sprinkles. After she had her treat we went to the fountain in the Triangle where she loved trying to catch the blowing water in her mouth but she also tried to get in. She had so much fun! Bubby slept most of the time but woke up when Autumn was eating her cupcake - he must have smelled the "yumminess"!

PeePee on the Potty!

Autumn sat on the potty today and made some pee pee. The neighbors probably think we've lost it since Jim and I did a crazy Peepee on the Potty dance to celebrate!

More fun things Autumn says

5/10/10

"That's the biggest cookie ever, mom!"

"What that man (or other object) doin'?"

"What his name?"

5/16/10

Yes he/she/they/it are.

Feeding the Fish

It was a gorgeous day so we went to the Fish Hatchery. Autumn wanted to go swimming and was disappointed that that wasn't an option... but she did enjoy feeding them.

Warms!

Our conversation as I'm getting Autumn dressed:
Me: "It's going to be warm outside today".
Autumn: "No, Mama, No Warm."
Me: "Yes, Honey, it's already nice and warm".
Autumn: No, Mama, the warms are in the ground in the dirt".

Thursday, April 29, 2010

Mmm, Mmm, Good!

Autumn was making Biddy some food in her kitchen when she told us "I'm making soup. It's a good recipe.".

Biddy's Birthday

What an exciting night! Autumn ate some pizza crust - a first for her. Then she put on her scarf and built snowmen with Grammy (she's so good at pretending!). Autumn was "fishing"and Biddy had to help her pull in her "heavy fish". Then she needed to take care of her dolly in the swing. She also played with her Legos with Biddy and Daddy while Evan watched (and tried to get his hands on those Legos)... quite the birthday celebration for Biddy!

Peas, Please!

Evan had peas for the first time today. We think he liked them but not totally sure.

Sunday, April 18, 2010

That's "crumb-y"

Grammy made a cake and Biddy decorated it for Autumn. She had a piece for a snack. While she was eating, Jim and I were tending to Evan. All of a sudden we hear "Mama, Mama, Mama, MAMA, MAMA, MAMA!" So I ask her what she needs and she says "I have cake in my belly button". Yep, she had a ton of crumbs in there. Don't know how she got so much cake in her belly button when she was wearing a shirt but I had to blow the crumbs out (I huffed and puffed and blew the crumbs out - lol).

First Cereal

Evan had his first solid food today... rice cereal. We think he liked it but it was hard to tell. He liked chewing on the spoon more since I think he's teething. Yes, these were all taken at the same time - we just tried a few bibs out and then no bib! Thanks, Nicole, for loaning us the high chair!
