Autumn's First Real Food!

Today we tried rice cereal - she liked it but she has to get the hang of eating - which I'm sure she'll master as a Blasko-Harper.

Shopping!!

It was sooo hot in the house today, plus Jim was trying to work on getting her floor done - sooner or later that poor child will have her own room. Anyway, Autumn and I decided to escape the heat and go shopping. Our very first mother-daughter shopping trip! I got her a few pair of shorts since she didn't have any yet - Kohls - $5 - gotta love it! Then we went and got a new cell phone since mine broke. Couldn't get a phone for free since my $19.99 plan doesn't qualify but I got one for $20 and it has a camera in it - which the sale person said was cool. I only use my cell for emergencies or calling long distance since we don't have it on our home phone but good to know I can take an emergency photo!

Sleeping Beauty!

After a week of letting her cry herself to sleep, we've finally achieved a reasonable bedtime! She's gone from 3am to between 11pm and midnight - Praise God! She cried for 2 HOURS the first two night - which was so hard to hear but then it gradually diminished to less than 5 minutes tonight! It's so nice to be able to get to bed at a reasonable time!

Autumn's First Easter!

We had a lot of fun taking photos today...doesn't she look just precious as a bunny! Abbi got bunny ears, too!

A Momentous Saturday!

What a day! We took Abbi and Autumn to get their photos done together. The process was the best part - they were grabbing each other's dresses and pulling them up, eating their own clothing, grabbing hands, and of course not smiling at the same time. Somehow we did manage to get one good photo but the memories we have of the experience are priceless! Then tonight at Gramma & Grandpop's house she rolled over from tummy to back for the first time! Jim missed getting the first shot on video but got the video camera just in time for the second time!

She did it!

Autumn rolled over for the first time tonight! I put her down to sleep on her back facing one way and when Jim went to bed he called me in. She had turned the other direction and was laying on her tummy. We turned her back over but not sure how we'll find her in the morning!

Diva!!

We went for a walk and stopped by Grammy's. She gave Autumn some sunglasses. Doesn't she just look like she's thinking "no more photos, please!"?

No Fashion Sense!

Jim took Autumn last night so I could get a little sleep before the week of long nights started again. Apparently Jim was changing Autumn when she decided to go again and got herself all wet and had to be changed. Despite putting things in the drawers in stacks of coordinating outfits, this is how my child was dressed when I got her up this morning. Silly Daddy! I think she knows it doesn't match!

Grampy, is that you?

Grammy and Grampy came today and brought Autumn a balloon since she discovered her love of balloons at Jim's birthday party. The fun part was there was "Grammy's" face on one side and "Grampy's" face on the other. She liked that, and the string was yummy too!

Donuts!!

Autumn has learned to make donuts! Not the kind that you eat though (mmm, that would be nice!). She can make a donut on her back while in her crib. She really can move around in there now - the heartbeat monitor went off 6 times last night since she had gotten to the corners of the crib! Today she also pulled herself up from a reclined position to a sitting position - she can't get all the way up from laying down quite yet. And she said "ma" - it was only once but it was an exciting new development! She amazes me each day with all she is learning!

4 Months!

Yesterday Autumn turned 4 months old. Of course with reaching that milestone comes the dreaded "well visit". The nurse got her weight - 13 pounds 12 ounces, which puts her in the 50th percentile. Then she got her height - 25 inches puts her in the 75th percentile for height. You go, girl - or should I say "you grow, girl"! Then the nurse measured her head circumference, went to write it on the chart, made a face, measured her head again, went to the chart again, and then made some kind of alarming comment and measured it again. After that she said that she was in the 5th percentile for head circumference. Jim and I both looked at each other with a worried look and I started praying. When the Dr. came in and asked if we had any concerns, that was top on the list. I asked what would make her head small, fearing a horrible answer, but she said "usually a bad measurement". She measured it and it was a whole inch off what the nurse got. I guess Autumn has a slippery head which is hard to measure, but it's in the 50th percentile! She appears healthy (praying it stays that way after being in a germy doctors office). She was a trooper getting her 5 shots. Cried while she got them - and hated the rotovirus oral liquid -and that was about it - she's fussy now but that's to be expected!

What am I teaching her???

Autumn is slowly starting to enjoy bath-time. Part of that is because she's becoming more coordinated and can purposefully move her limbs. She likes to splash around and try to get her rubber ducky which is usually floating down by her feet. I've been telling her to "kick the ducky" - which she does. Then I realized that I'm going to need to stop saying that at some point so she doesn't try to abuse the real ducks at the duck pond!

Soccer, Track, or Softball?

When she was inside me, she kicked so much I thought that she'd become a soccer player someday. When she's sitting she moves her feet around so much and so fast that I'm thinking she'll be a track star. Today, as I was standing beside her crib, she took her sock off and threw it at me - she got it over the top of the crib and it hit the back of my thigh - so maybe it'll be pitching softball?
